Animated books
Six short romantic stories inspired by the works of famous Norwegian writers.
Norway has traditionally been considered a country of victorious romanticism.
We decided to take a few famous books of classical Norwegian writers and relocate their stories in the current context of public library.
Norwegian art and literature are permeated with romantic spirit.
But what is romanticism for Norway today?
We created inside of library kind of "hidden kingdom" of romantic stories from the classical Norwegian literature. We made several installations inside of library dedicated to one episode from one book. Installation made from cheap, safe, and lightweight materials - cardboard, paper and other. We created a special map that we hang on the wall of exhibition room on the first floor near cafe - and make a catalog/zin with installations, used texts and map and so on. Installations made before opening day and should stay some days, 1-3.
In the day of opening we made a performance-travelling with music from one installation to another, where we were both guides and actors. And the installations afterwards will stay still for awhile.
The list of interpreted books:
1. Johann Sebastian Welhaven "Ved Kirkegaarden"
2. Camilla Jacobine Collett "Amtmandens Døttre"
3. Henrik Arnold Wergeland "Jan van Huysums Blomsterstykke"
